The short answers. If yours isn't here, email us.

What is On the Shoulders of Medusa?

A publication about women's rights, women's health, work and money, and the history that labeled strong women hysterical. We explain what's happening in the United States and point you to ways to act on it.

Why is it called On the Shoulders of Medusa?

Medusa was punished for an attack she didn't commit and remembered as a monster. The name honors the women before us whose brilliance was mislabeled as wild, difficult, and hysterical, and whose shoulders we stand on.

What is the weekly report?

One email a week with the issues we're watching and real ways to act on them. Sign up with the form at the bottom of any page. It's free.

Do you cover issues outside the United States?

Not right now. We keep our coverage to US laws, policies and organizations so the information is specific enough to use.

How do you choose your sources?

We link to primary sources wherever we can: the bill, the court ruling, the study, the agency data. Our editorial standards explain how we source, label opinion and handle corrections.

Is this medical or legal advice?

No. We explain laws, policies and research so you can understand your options. For your own situation, talk to a doctor, a lawyer, or a legal aid organization. Our Find Help directory lists organizations that can help.

How can I suggest an organization for a Local Spotlight?

Email us at [email protected] with the organization's name, city, website, and what they do for women. We feature groups doing real, local work.

I found a mistake. How do I report it?

Email [email protected] with the article link and what needs fixing. We correct errors and note the correction on the article.

Do you accept donations?

No. We are not taking donations. The best way to support the work is to read, share, and get the weekly report.
